2 new collages + artful meditation for Feb

Hello beauties and an artful welcome to you in February, 2021!

This week my gorgeous son and I choose a couple of Artful Presence cards and made a short, guided meditation for you on our front porch. Spending meaningful moments engaging in nourishing things together is always such a highlight. Carving out time to fill our connection cups, especially when we’re busy = win-win.

We hope you enjoy the intuitive love! 🌈💕🎨🌿💫

ARTFUL MEDITATION FOR FEBRUARY, 2021

TWO NEW INTUITIVE COLLAGES IN PROGRESS

Speaking of carving out time for meaningful moments, I’ve also been working on a couple of new colourful collages. Art-making has always been a tool for me to tap into and connect with myself, and process experiences in my life. I’m much more about enjoying the process than striving for the end product. I mean just look at all that delish colour and texture to play with!

EMBRACING CREATIVE PROCESS

Personally, I’m finding that I’m waaay less concerned if an artwork is ‘finished’ these days. Why? Because I’m allowing myself to get lost in the bliss of the creative process instead. Colour. Choice. Creative expression. So important right? I feel there’s a life lesson there.

When we’re always gearing ourselves for outcomes, it can rob the enjoyment of what we are doing in our ‘right now’. That’s why creativity is so cathartic - it’s like the opposite to how we were taught to achieve things. It’s about BEING.

Let’s not achieve and enjoy instead! And know we’re still worthy! Let’s spend more time where we are, filling the space with our beautiful selves and those meaningful moments we love.

HOW TO KNOW WHEN AN ARTWORK IS FINISHED?

Honestly? My answer to this has changed greatly in recent years. I used to say an artwork is finished when I stop feeling an ‘inner pull’ to work on it, like there’s a sense of restful peace or closure. But lately, I’ve been feeling an artwork may be more like events or ideas in life - something we spend time with and may or may not visit again in the future.

So in short, the above two artworks might not be finished and may never be. I might like to revisit them in weeks or years, when I have more story pieces of the puzzle to share. Let’s say, they’ve reached a satisfying resting point for now. Damn this feels good!

I make art because it’s good for me, and that’s my priority. I cannot tell you how much softer my tummy feels when I make art for enjoyment! Experiencing the process of creating is the only outcome I choose to focus on.

If I can let go of outcomes and it’s my JOB to be an artist, than I reckon anyone can! It means our art-making can be like life, one step at a time in the direction of love, connecting with ourselves, others and meaningful moments, and embracing the ride. Can I get a ‘woot woot?’

Happy February to you and your loved ones. Here’s to many meaningful moments and wonder-filled process.

With love,
