Journalling

This year so far for me has brought about some surprises. Whenever newness comes my way, my first reaction is usually "YAY, newness!", which then gives way to "EEK, the unknown!". Then with time, I work my way back into acceptance and LIVING it.

One of the tools I use to move through my experiences, is journalling (I also do it because it's so effing fun!). I clear off the dining room table, fill a bucket of water and grab my Art materials. Then, I just start making marks, adding colour and letting my feelings spill on the pages.

The thing I love about journalling, it that it's totally for me. Working in a book means I don't have it in my mind that it needs to be a sellable work. It's just me and whole heap of exciting materials to work with.

Something wonderful happens when we give ourselves full permission to say and do and be who we really want to be, and Art-making is such a safe way to explore this. It also yields some fresh, new approaches that we can use in other areas of our lives, including for me, in my future paintings.
