🧡🍂 Making meaning with colour
Colour as an expressive tool
I have always found colour to be an expressive tool. At various times through my life, my infatuation with a certain colour may stay with me for years.
On the last couple of years as I’ve studied art therapy, the colour orange has arisen for me again and again.
It feels like an extension of my Spirit, an embracing of my light, agency and ability to choose 🧡🍂🌿
Using colour for meaning making
As I lean more into the therapeutic benefits of art-making, I am loving exploring meaning making through colour, organic forms and naturally arising imagery that feels meaningful to me.
We can tap into the wellbeing benefits of colour in really simple ways, such as mindfully noticing colour in our everyday environment, taking photos with our phone of inspiring colour combos or wearing colour.
Of course, we can also make art with colour!
As an artist becoming an art therapist, I am enjoying the new focus of prioritising soulful connection and resonance, over creating art that is beautiful and sale-worthy. Process art-making is where the soul emanates.
To give you some ideas, here are some of my recent explorations with colour, photography and natural materials.
