Over the last week I've enjoyed some much-needed painting time in my studio. For a challenge, I created some loose and free study paintings, set to a timer of 20, 10 and 5 minutes. I didn't have time to think, I just let go and allowed my hands and intuition to guide me. Here's what emerged from the playful paint sesh ...

Working within the limitations of time and a restricted colour palette was a surprisingly enjoyable process. Admittedly, I went back in afterwards and added a few little extra details on some of them just to make them pop, but I kept the loose, free approach.

For those of you who have been watching my Art for a while now, these are great way to start collecting some affordable, original pieces ... or to add to your existing collection.

I think these would make a wonderful Mother's Day gift, too!
