🪴Building Calm: My Cosy LEGO BnB🧱

As an AuDHD’er, I go through mega collecting hyperfocusses with different hobbies, knowledge and skills … In recent years it’s been houseplants and LEGO!

I have loads of plants and therapeutic LEGO displayed all through my house and I’m running out of room! So sometimes I need to combine LEGO sets.

It’s no secret to my friends that I am a massive LEGO fan. Particularly anything with plants/botanicals, birds, cats, whimsy and LEGO Friends sets - all so colourful, quirky and fun!

I almost always build a LEGO set first with the instructions, then pull it apart and/or edit it to make a MOC (My Own Creation).

In this creation, I started with the LEGO Friends Cosy Autumn Forest Cabin which was amazing, but had a large base footprint. And with limited room to display it, I decided to MOC it up!

I loved so many elements of this build, but I wanted it to have an earthy treehouse vibe too. So I pulled it apart, moved the features around, created a new base with a smaller footprint and built a treehouse growing from the centre of it.

I bought this cool display cabinet off marketplace a few years ago that used to be my plant cabinet. I moved some of my plants in other nooks around the house and started a new vignette. When I popped them in, it felt like a little BnB I’d love to live in!

As an Arts Therapist, I find all my builds have a therapeutic component, where I’m creating small worlds reflecting safe, attuned and inspiring places. I also bring in values and intentional experiences I’m leaning towards in my life - like a trip to home hot springs, cute little weekend getaways with a loving partner, owning a tiny home … little dreams I can create into reality with LEGO.

Placement of my builds LEGO are highly curated. Everything has meaning. The Up build and Flower Shoppe on the top shelf represent my planty home and my Dad living in a granny flat in our backyard.

The middle section are my aspirations.

The plants atop are blooming and spiritual connection.

It all fits together like puzzle pieces mirroring my inner and outer life. I’m so glad to have LEGO in my life!

Soon I’ll do another post sharing my LEGO Friends City - I’ve been working on it for over a year and it’s forking cool! If I do say so myself.

See you again soon x
