New painted object - 'Musical Heart' hand-painted bowl

I'm really excited about painting on ceramics at the moment. I had an unlikely mistake happen when one of my ceramic pens wouldn't work, so I unscrewed the lid and dipped a cotton bud into the shaft to get the paint out. This simple misfortune led to me realise that I can paint with the pens as well as draw with them. Needless to say, I'm loving the new creative prospects this brings!

So when I found this bowl, I was eager to get stuck into painting it up.

Before ...

After ...

I'm really happy with how it turned out. The lovely, warm cream colour of the bowl really lent itself to some black line work, with a bit less colour highlights than I'd usually use.

While I was making it, I realised that it reminded me of musical sheets and this beautifully mirrored my current theme about marching to the beat of my own drum and celebrating my own uniqueness, instead of trying to - or wishing to - keep us with the Jones'. So, I called it 'Musical Heart'.

I've just listed it here in my shop
