Childhood Doodling with Markers

Making Art with Markers

As a kid I loved decorative drawing with markers, or felt pens as we call them here in Australia.

I would always be drawing pictures as a child and in high school, I would fill my diary margins with colourful border art and make decorative name art for my friends.

When I grew up and became an artist, my felt pens gave way for more ‘professional’ art supplies like acrylic paint and watercolour.

Childhood hobbies = joy

As much as I love exploring all art mediums, it feels so freeing and honouring to come back to my childhood roots and make decorative doodles with markers again.

Simple art, just for me, playing with colour and line for the fun of it.

I tend to think that the hobbies we most enjoyed in childhood, like drawing or dancing or catching tapdoles in the creek, are still alive is us today and can be sources of great joy.

Is there a childhood hobby you’d love to reignite from your childhood or teens? What are your fondest creative memories? There’s joy to be found by rekindling them into our lives.

Learn Art with me

I’m currently working in some beautiful new art class offerings for adults and kids for term 1, including a beautiful small weekly adults art group online, sharing simple art, mindfulness card decks, and connection, together.

I’m excited to share a range of art materials with you and playfully explore, for the fun of creativity.
