A lovely customer contacted me recently about creating a custom cup and saucer commission for her friend’s upcoming birthday. Over the weekend I’d proudly rummaged through an antique shop to find these beautiful vintage cup and saucer sets, so I thought it’d be a great opportunity to try out my interest in incorporating floral designs into my ceramic paintings.

She really liked the front centre tea set, so last night I got to work on it. here’s what it ended up like!

It’s a bit difficult to see the detail in the flower in this early morning light, it actually looks much more vibrant in real life.

My customer requested that I write a happy birthday message on the saucer and the girl’s name on the cup somewhere, which I won’t show in case she happens to stumble across this post!

I’ll be mailing it off this week and it’s bound for Singapore! Who knows what delicious tea concoctions and lovely conversations may grace this tea set in the future.
